balsa-1.4.3 (the one to be used with GNOME-1.x) released containing quite a long list of bug fixs. It is a recommended upgrade. We release also balsa-2.0.10 - the GNOME2 port of balsa, with long list of improvements. One of them is GPG support: have a look at a screenshot. GPG support is still in the initial phase and we welcome all comments but please , do read first the instructions.

We have now GPG support for mail signing and encryption in CVS with help of gpgme library. Albrecht Dreß who wrote this code provided also short instructions.

We release balsa-2.0.5 - a GNOME2 port of balsa. We release it rather soon after 2.0.4 - not that it was bad. It is just that 2.0.5 is so much better! :-)

We release balsa-2.0.4 - a GNOME2 port of balsa. Major changes include: balsa can be now compileed against aspell>=0.50 and gnome-2.2; it should not crash on concurrent access to local mailboxes; GNOME2 based help system finally works.

We release balsa-2.0.3 - a GNOME2 port of balsa. Many bugs have been fixed and the UI has been adapted to follow closer Human Interface Guidelines.

We release balsa-2.0.2 - a GNOME2 port of balsa, quite a functional one. We think we use now pango and UTF-8 capabilites of GNOME2 to the fullest now.

2002-08-09: Try balsa-1.3.7. This is a prerelease to stable 1.4.0.

2002-05-15: GNOME2 port of balsa - second preview - is released. It is mostly work behind the scenes but the outcome is definetely visible.

2002-05-15: Development balsa-1.3.6 is released. It can search with reasonable speed in message bodies held in IMAP mailboxes. It has few portability fixes for Solaris. It should not crash any more when called with -a option. It has minor filter UI improvements (widgets are sensitive). It is more verbose on common SMTP errore and again does RFC-compliant header encoding. Some build fixes has been resolved as well.

Development balsa-1.3.5 is released - observer though that we approach a stable phase with this branch. Major changes are: New mailboxes scanned in a thread. Improved message include function. It preserves "References" headers over message postpone. Number of crashes and other bugs fixed. Some portability fixes.

We release also balsa-2.0.0 technology preview. It is a GNOME2 port of balsa.

2002-03-26: development balsa-1.3.4 is released. It fixes some MT-related bugs (or so we hope).

2002-03-05: development balsa-1.3.3 is released. It fixes charset and content-type related issues intruduced in in 1.3.2. All 1.3.2 users are encouraged to upgrade.

2002-02-07: development balsa-1.3.1 is released. It includes fixes for printing of multipart messages with different content-types, rescanning of local directories, delayed message deletion (and undeletion), external editor support, imap message caching, and some bug fixes as well.

2002-01-20: balsa-1.2.4 is released. This release includes few bug fixes with respect to previous stable release: mailbox synchronize opereration is improved, IMAP passwords do not have to be stored any more in MT build, message threads are traversed more consistently, and few more.

Several improvements in IMAP folder handling has been done, new command line options have been added and other UI improvements have been implemented.

2001-06-20: development balsa 1.1.6 released. The libESMTP code has been tested, we added multiple identity code, improved usability of large mailboxes and mailbox folders.

2001-05-22: development balsa 1.1.5 released. This is again quite stable release, but brings some new solutions and requires one extra package to install so please, make sure you have read the instructions on the download page and the README file.

2001-04-20: development balsa 1.1.4 released. This is actually quite stable one, with many bugs that were in 1.1.3 fixed - thanks to Bugzilla which helps us to organize stuff.

2001-03-29: development balsa 1.1.3 released. This is mostly a bug fix release, including temporary file creation fix.

2001-03-02: development balsa 1.1.2 released. The IMAP support is further improved in terms of stability. Multithreaded mailbox opening has been implemented.

2001-02-06: development balsa 1.1.1 released! We spent much time on improving IMAP support which should be rock solid now. You can also try IMAP folders to save your time defining folders on your IMAP server (this is still a bit experimental, comments are welcome).

2001-01-22: development balsa 1.1.0 released! This one comes with rewrited mail alias support and is worth to get just for this reason.

2000-12-18: development balsa 1.0.1 released! This is just to make some bug fixes available as well as new threaded message index.

2000-11-03: fifth and last 1.0 prerelease - Balsa 1.0.pre5. The final 1.0.0 release is going to appear within 7 days and translations are the only part to be updated in this time. Also, read README, we discovered that Balsa is sensitive to bugs in gnome libraries (and we want it to be this way).

2000-10-23: fourth prerelease - Balsa 1.0.pre4. pre3 wasn't really lucky, this one should be much better. Read README, we discovered that Balsa is sensitive to bugs in gnome libraries (and we want it to be this way).

2000-10-18: third pre-release - Balsa 1.0.pre3. Only minor fixes came in. It is worth to upgrade in case you have problems with pre2.

2000-10-06: second pre-release - Balsa 1.0.pre2. It has several bug fixes, most of them minor but still useful to have. It is worth to upgrade in any case.

2000-09-29: first pre-release - Balsa 1.0.pre1. The version number has no particular meaning apart from 0.9+0.1=1.0. This release is supposed to be stable code usable in the production environment (I use it every day).

2000-09-18: not-quite experimental Balsa 0.9.5 - we are in feature-freeze state now.

2000-09-05: experimental Balsa 0.9.4 - some bug fixes, new IMAP code with GSS and CRAM-MD5 authorization.
